After a pleasant dinner Roberto Venturini gave an excursus on the surgical block we made in the Pope John XXIII hospital in Aber accompanied by slides. He then introduced Lorenzo Martin de Pinter a key character in the successful completion of the work on the surgical block to which he has dedicated himself with passion and professionalism. He then gave the floor to Silvia Oteng, former official of the Embassy of Italy in Uganda who is our contact person and friend on the spot and who has been instrumental in facilitating, with affection and competence our work by opening all bureaucratic and human doors. Then spoke Alda Pagliano, who with her husband Carlo Torino have woven relationships with local humanitarian organizations such as Sister Maria Marrone, who runs an orphanage for orphaned and AIDS-affected children and is concerned with creating job grants for girls and boys to offer them a future. Dr. Francesco Coggiola then spoke, the true soul and drafter of WECARE, and it is due to him the idea and the constant commitment to complete the work, which is essential to continue his surgical work in the hospital and to involve other physicians in the different specialties to travel to Aber to offer their work. The evening was closed by our president Rosalda Binello who thanked the participants for their membership and generosity while also remembering our founder and never-to-be-forgotten Agostino Gaglio. Also remembered was our great sponsor and donor lawyer Carlo Olmo without whom the successful outcome of the undertaking would have been almost impossible. Also present at the evening was Salvator Loring Lasarte CEO of Mundi Riso of the Spanish group Ebro Foods world leader in rice, a great sponsor and friend of WECARE.
